M.U.A. allows for manipulation and mobilization procedures, stretching maneuvers, and fibrous release procedures to be accomplished while the patient is anesthetized and in total relaxation. This procedure is often used for chronic conditions that may not respond to traditional conservative treatements.

Our certified therapists provide comprehensive rehabilitation and physical therapy programs using state of the art modalities and procedures. Available modalities on site include ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, interferential current, TENS, microcurrent, mechanical traction, paraffin, and endermologie. Manual therapies include mobilization procedures, isometric exercise training, and progressive resistive exercise and stretching programs using tubing, therapy balls, foam rolls, and free weights. |

In this way, the muscles are conditioned specifically for the job-related tasks undertaken by the worker. Our team of physicians and therapists work as team in constructing patient specific work programs. Our work conditioning program is a systematic program of gradually progressive, work related activities performed with proper body mechanics to physically and psychologically recondition the patient in order to facilitate return to full employment. (FCE)
The center is equipped with an on site state of the art computerized functional capacity evaluation laboratory. FCE typically addresses critical demands, essential job functions, and physical demand level (PDL). Upon entrance into the program, our patients will undergo a comprehensive evaluation of their functional capabilities through the J-Tech System. The goal is to match physical dysfunction from the evaluation with findings on the Functional Capacity Evaluation. The musculoskeletal evaluation looks specifically at strength, posture, flexibility, gait, sensation, reflexes and other variables that are patient and task-specific. |

PATERNITY & KINSHIP relationships verified or excluded
Most samples are analyzed simply and painlessly by buccal swabs. Alternative techniques can use a tube of blood, a drop of blood, saliva, or hair follicles with attached root. This test includes the mother, child and alleged father. Additional siblings or additional alleged fathers may be tested at added costs. This testing may also be used to test for deceased parents, adoption, unusual kinship, twin and family studies, immigration, inheritance, custody, child support and forensic work. Legal Paternity Testing requires "Chain of Evidence" and demands that all participants be present at the time of testing. If mother or alleged father is missing or deceased, paternal grandparents may be used to exclude grandparentage.

PHARMACOGENETIC TESTING - Drug Metabolism Studies
Pharmacogenetics is the alternative to "one size fits all" and "trial and error" prescribing. Knowledge of patient's drug metabolizing gene variations can help target appropriateness and dosage of many of the most commonly prescribed drugs. These studies support evidence based decision making, provide evidence for higher dose or more expensive drug use, when necessary, and prevent difficulties based upon family history of adverse drug reactions and therapeutic failures.
Currently the following tests are available:
• CYP2D6 - acts on one-fourth of all prescription drugs, including opioid pain medications, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), betablockers such as Inderal, and Type 1A antiarrhythmics. Drugs in this category include Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor, Hydrocodone, Amitryptyline, Claritin, Cyclobenzaprine, Haldol, Metoprolol, Rythmol, Tagamet and Tamoxifen.
• CYP2C9 - Primary route of metabolism for Coumadin (Warfarin), Dilantin (phenytoin), Amaryl, Isoniazid, Sulfa, Ibuprofen, Amitriptyline, Hyzaar, Naproxen and Viagra.
• CYP2C19 - is associated with metabolism of Carisoprodol, Diazepam, Dilantin, Premarin and Prevacid.
